Design Careers

So you are interested in a design career in local government, well look no further!

We are looking to expand our team and I’m sure we will have something for you.

First things first………..

Designer….What is it?

When we speak of a designer we are talking about the roles like:

  • Senior Interaction / UX Designer
  • Interaction Designer
  • Lead Content Designer
  • Content Designer
  • Lead Service Designer
  • Service Designer

As you can see not interior design though that would be fun, I digress, anyway as you can see this is a lot to do with the way a user uses the website i.e. the look, the feel the interaction.

For example a service designer would design the end-to-end journey of a service, this helps the user complete their goal. On the other hand a content designer would make things easier for people to understand and use. This can involve writing content for a single page or work closely with the service designer on the end-to end journey. Finally and this is the fun one a user researchers plan, design and carry out research activities with users that help teams get a deep understanding of the people that use government service, so if you like working with users up close this one is for you.

There is some level of skill required for this area of design work and these are as follows:

  • Communicating information
  • Digital perspective
  • Strategic thinking
  • Inclusive research
  • Technical understanding
